About Stephanie Demarais Studio
Welcome to my studio — I’m so glad you’re here. It means the world to share this space, and these pieces, with you.
About the Studio
Stephanie Demarais Studio is a collection of original oil paintings and fine art prints created for those who share a love for light and a deep sense of place.
My paintings are inspired by quiet harbors, coastal landscapes, gardens, dappled light, sunlit interiors, and moments that feel both timeless and fleeting. There’s a gentle nostalgia in each piece—something warm, familiar, and worth returning to.
My Story
Painting has become a way of nurturing beauty—both in my home and in the wider world. It’s a medium for connection, a quiet language we all understand. A reminder to slow down, look closer, and make space for the things that move us.
Art has quietly shaped my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my most cherished childhood memories were spent alongside my grandmother on her century-old farm in the Midwest—watching her tend to her garden, care for animals, cook for her family, and, in quiet moments, create. Her deep sense of care and creativity left a lasting imprint on me.
Drawn to that same spirit of nurturing, I pursued a career as a pediatric nurse practitioner and spent many years at the bedside and in the clinic. Painting remained a quiet constant in the background. It wasn’t until I was expecting children of my own (our twins, William and Madeline) that I returned to it in earnest—creating a large-scale piece inspired by one of my favorite landscapes. Something clicked. In the swirl of new motherhood, painting brought me back to something that felt fully, unmistakably me.
The Creative Process
My process begins with seeing the beauty in the everyday: the view from my garden in Deephaven, Minnesota... a bowl of oranges on the kitchen counter... a walk in Woodland, among the forest of oak, aspen, and pine trees with peeks of sailboats bouncing on the bay in Wayzata.
I’m especially inspired by the feeling of home—quiet mornings, shifting light, and the gentle rhythm of days spent with my children and our golden retriever, Ollie. Moments like these often spark the beginnings of a sketch. My love of timeless interiors—soft linen curtains, warm wood, and natural textures—also weaves its way into my work, adding subtle depth and atmosphere. That sense of place extends beyond our walls, too—many of my pieces are sparked by moments from our travels, especially time spent in small coastal towns and landscapes that linger in memory—places where time slows and the light feels just a little more golden.
Each piece is hand-sketched, then painted in oils using Geneva Fine Art materials in a completely non-toxic process—a top priority in our home studio. Every painting is finished with a protective layer of Gamblin varnish for lasting quality and placed in a floater frame made by a trusted American framer and painted white, stained dark, or left unfinished for you to put your creative mark on the piece.
I personally photograph each piece, and a trusted fine art print shop produces museum-quality prints on thick, matte paper. Orders are packaged with care and shipped directly to you—ready to bring light, stillness and inspiration into your space.
A Final Note
As a mother and pediatric nurse practitioner, I view painting as an extension of the same nurturing instinct that has shaped my life. It’s a way to slow down, take notice, and create something beautiful—something I hope inspires you, comforts you, or brings back a memory you didn’t realize you’d held onto.
Thank you again for being here. I’m truly honored to share my art with you.
